Well, the first competitive game we have played where points were involved is over.
The start of the game wasn't what we were looking for, and we suffered. The first 15 minutes were a disaster and we went 3 down before we knew where we were.
Matt and Jack were happy when the whistle went at the end of that first period, so they could speak to the players and get them organised better.
The second period was much better and we managed to pull a couple of goals back. The first from the spot, after Alistair was upended in the box. David dIspatched it well to give us a chance of salvaging something from the game.
The second, after a good run down the right by Ben, who cut the ball back to the edge of the area and Connell put it away.
From then on the game was very evenly balanced with both sides having chances to score.
We gave ourselves a mountain to climb at the start of the game, but were unable to bring ourselves level.
Parts of the game were very good and we played some nice football, but we can't expect anything when we give the opposition the start they got.
Next week is Stamperland and we need to get off to a positive start, as we are playing catch up.
See you all at training on Wednesday.

OPM 7 - 1 STAMPERLAND ATH
A better display on Saturday, but we did come down to their level a bit during the game.
The first goal came from a corner from Jordan which some how managed to find the net, possible o.g. I think. That was followed up by another corner, taken short between Ryan and Ali which Ryan finished off.
Goal number 3 came from man of the match, Jordan after a massy run through the defence and slotted the ball low past the keeper. Jordan made it a hat-trick, when a through ball from Cyrus was met by him and he put it away.
Goal number 5 came after a defence splitting pass by Ali was met by Chris as he rounded the keeper and slid the ball into the empty net.
Number 6 was set up by a good run down the left by Jack and pass to Ryan who stroked the ball past the keeper.
Stamperland pulled one back late on but we finished the game with number 7 form Connell on as a sub.
Overall we played ok but will need to improve in future games, starting with Saturdays game.
OPM 6 - 3 southside
Well, what a start. It was like a nightmare.
The keeper and defence were all over the place and we let in 2 very bad goals. The old story of a very bad start and having to claw our way back into the game. we pulled one back when Ryan made a good run down the right and his cross was deflected by a defender past his keeper. You would have thought that would have settled the team down, but instead we let them run straight down the park and score another when Craig slipped and the boy ran through and slotted it away.
We had to change things at the back and Chris came on for Connor to steady the ship at the back. This seemed to work and we started to boss the game from then on.
A cracker from David, a dipping shot from outside the area over the keepers head put us right back in the game and the midfield started to take control.
Some good work from Ben sent David through for his second to bring us level. From then on we completely dominated the game. Ryan made it 4-3 and Callum scored another great goal to give us a cushion.
A great run by Ally led to a penalty, when he was pulled down in the area. David stepped up to put away our 6th and his 3rd
The forwards had a hat full of chances during the game and we could have won by a much bigger margin. We need to start much better, anyone seen this comment before, and the boys up front need to hit the net more often with the easy chances they are getting.
Lets see what this week brings, but lets start on the front foot.
Come on the Orchard.

Saturdays game was much better for the most part.
We started the game with Chris at the centre of the defence, after our last couple of games when the defence seemed on the ropes at times and gave away silly goals.
This definitely made a big difference and the whole team were much more settled.
We played some really good football in the first period without any reward. Ben had a great free kick thunder of the bar, after Ali was brought down outside the box when making a great run through the defence. Connell made a great cross from the right wing only to see David head over the bar, when it seemed easier to score. At the end of the first period we were all square.
The second period started much the same as the first with us very much on top. The first goal came from a very unusual source, when Jack made a great run across the defence and shot left footed into the far corner of the net. His first for the club and everybody joined in the celebrations. After that, for some strange reason the whole team seemed to drop of and let the opposition back into the game. Before the break we lost a bad goal from a corner kick which was put through our own goal. The boys defending corners need to attack the ball more.
The third period started, again with us on the back foot, and somehow we found ourselves 2-1 down. Spot the coaches on the side line scratching their heads in disbelief. Chris was pushed up front. This appeared to get the team going again and we were again playing good controlled football. Ryan had a shot come of the post and Chris was there to pick up the pieces and bring us level. From then on it was all one way traffic as our fitness began to tell. Ali made an excellent run and passed to Jordan who despatched the ball to the back of the net to give us the lead. Ali again, set up Chris this time in the box to make it 4-2. A shot by Connell beat the keeper to finish off the scoring and we came away with 3 valuable points.
For most of the game we were by far the better team but we need to kill of teams when we are playing so well.

David scored all three goal for us.
As for the performance I have kept this report short and to the point.

Back after the easter break and down to business.
The game wasn't to bad and considering we were off again for three weeks we didn't play too badly. We started off at a reasonable tempo and were under little pressure, except when we gave ourselves a problem by letting that ball bounce around.
We took the lead through Ryan after the ball was put through by Ali. The ball bounced among a few players and Ryan was quickest to react and put the ball away.
We continued to play some good football and as usual created some decent chances, only to miss them.
The second period started well and we were two up within a couple of minutes. Ben was delivering some great balls from corners, one was cleared only for Ali to pass it back into the danger area and David put it away. Another followed, again through David, and we were cruising. Then, as so often this season, we gave away a daft goal after a hopeful ball was played through the defence and they pulled one back.
Another great delivery from a Ben corner which David me with his head and it looped into the net for number four.
We made it five when yet another corner was cleared. Again Ail returned it into the box and Chris got a touch and the ball ended in the back of the net.
They completed the scoring, again after a defensive error let them run through to score their second.
We need to stop the silly errors and putting ourselves under unwanted pressure. Also we should be converting more chances. But overall a great improvement on our last display.

OPM 2-5 WESTWOOD YELLOWS
What a start we had to the game. One up after less than 2 minutes. A good ball through the middle and David ran onto it and put it away. The game was quite even, but as with many other weeks we let the opposition back into it. A corner came in and instead of clearing our lines we passed the ball into the middle of our own goal for them to pass it into the net. We went two down from another corner through an o.g. in trying to clear the ball Chris was unlucky to header the ball into the net. Number three for them came before the first break. Again we had chances to clear a bouncing ball and hesitation from the goalie allowed them to score. Are you all recognising a pattern here.
We pulled one back in the second period. Again David scored after a good pass by Calum put him through. We looked good during this period but were unable to level things up.
The third period began fairly even with both teams pushing forward. Yet again they scored after we failed to clear our lines and unbelievably we managed to pass the ball to the opposition for them to score their fourth. After that our heads went down and they finished the scoring with a run down our left.
We need to be much stronger in the tackle and not panic when under pressure The goals we give away in matches just seem to keep coming and the opposition don't need to work too hard a lot of the time to score against us.
Come on Orchard lets finish the rest of the season on a high.

Well, yet another very poor display from Orchard. We appear to be in a rut and can't get out of it. Each week the team is given its talk from Matt, and at the end of the game the same problem crop up in the analysis of the game by Matt. What is going on?
We started not too bad and made some chances. Connell had a shot which went wide. Ali made a good pass to David but the ball ran away from him and went out. Then Ryan made a great run and put the ball away for our first.
In the second period David had another chance but put it wide. Then Ross made a good run down the right but put the ball wide. As the period went on we completely fell out of the game and the opposition started to put us under pressure. It was only a matter of time, as we watched from the side, before they scored and we dully obliged by watching them in our box, no challenges just people standing rooted to the spot while they score. We appear to be unable to tackle anyone and watch the opposition when they are on the ball.
From then on for a while we let them control the game and they could have taken the lead.
In the third period Ryan made a great run into the box and was brought down, penalty. Ali stepped up but pulled the ball wide of the goalkeepers right hand post. Connor then made a magnificent run down the inside right channel and passed to Ryan who then passed to David who scored. Again Ryan made a good run and pass to David who slotted it away. Ali made a run through the defence and appeared to be brought down the ref played on and the ball fell to David who scored the fourth.
We are winning most games but the performances are far from what is expected by the coaches. Everyone needs to have a good look at themselves before the next game
Come on Orchard lets see a performance from everyone and get back to playing good football.

Saturdays performance was much improved. Still giving away silly goals.
We started off really well, everyone was giving it 100%. The first chance came from David, but he shot wide. Then a good ball from the back from Chris, David latched on to it and scored.
We continued to press. Ross made a run down the right, a great cross into the box, but David missed the chance. David redeemed himself shortly after with a good run down the left and finished from a tight angle. Jack was having a good game and made a determined run down the left but his shot went wide. Ben then had a shot from the edge of the area but it was straight at the keeper. Another run by David down the left again, and he finished well.
Jack made another telling run down the left and his shot was diverted for a corner. Then Ryan made a good run down the right and passed to David for him to score again. Ben had another shot, but this time it flew wide of the target.
Callum then made a good pass to Ross on the right, he crossed and David met it to score his fifth and ours.
At the start of the second period we were a bit slower and they scored with a shot from the right. No one closed the player down.
David had a couple of shots which flew wide. Connell made a determined run and was rewarded with a good goal. They scored again after a player was put clear on the left and the defence were unable to get to him.
The keeper was being kept busy and made a few good saves, including one from Ross after some good work down the right wing.
We continued to press at the start of the third period. Jack made another run down the left, passed to Connell who shot wide. Ben was delivering some telling crosses from corners, and Chris was unlucky not to score with a fine header.
Ryan made a great run down the right and finished well. They were awarded a very soft penalty, which they scored from. We were still thinking about it when they scored again. Ryan then made another great run down the right and scored with a great shot.
The final goal came from an unlikely source. After a couple of corners on the trot and good headers from Chris, the keeper could only parry the ball and there was Cyrus to score his first goal, and didn't he enjoy it.
Overall we did play pretty well, should have scored much more and still need to tighten up that defence.
Come on Orchard, lets give it all we've got to the end of the season
O.P.M. 2-0 Clarkston
Very short and not so sweet report this week.
Plus points. We never gave a goal away.
Ryan scored both goals.
Minus points. We are still not fulfilling our potential.
We need to play as a team, work together and support each other.
This week is the battle for second spot. Lets go out there, as it's our last game, and put in a performance worth writing about. Lets give it all we've got and get that runners up spot.
COME ON ORCHARD.

Well, what a game and what a day.
The weather was terrible and the pitch was a bit wet to say the least.
The team did everyone proud. We had the right attitude and went about our business to collect the three points we needed to leapfrog Stamperland into second place.
We started so well with the wind and rain in our faces, playing the ball around and supporting each other.
The first goal came after a good run down the right wing by Ross a pass inside to Ryan and he slide the ball through for Chris to put away number one. The second came soon after, with a mazy run down the left by Chris on a solo run and did well to place the ball wide of the keepers left into the net. We were playing the kind of football you would hope to see on a bright sunny day, not in the conditions like Saturday. Number three came after some good work through the middle by Cyrus, he slipped the ball through to Ross on the right and he finished with a shot into the opposite side of the goal .
We were playing some really good football and number four came just into the second period. Again lovely work down the right from Ross and up popped Jack to score. For some reason after that fourth goal the whole team took their feet of the pedal and allowed Stamperland back into the game. Between the fourth goal in the second period and midway into the final period Stamperland pulled three goals back, and I can tell you the coaches on the sidelines were pulling what little hair they did have out. The ship was steadied again after a good run through the middle by Ali resulted in a free kick just to the left of the penalty area. Up stepped Ben, with what was a beautifully delivered free kick which went in the postage stamp corner. The relief throughout the team was there for all to see. We ended the game with a goal from Callum after a good run by Ryan.
A great day for the team and a good way to end the season. Lets hope we can go one better next season.
Enjoy the holidays and hope to see you all again after the summer break.

A good workout for next weekends tournament.
We started a bit tentative with passes going astray and it took time for the team to get into their stride. Before that Clarkston had a great chance to score but they put the ball wide with the goal open.
We started to settle and pass the ball about. The first chance we had came when Ali {mid field} had a shot that was deflected for a corner. We continued to press and Chris had a shot, which the keeper saved.
The first of our goals came after some good work down the left by Jack a pass inside to Ryan who crossed the ball to Chris and he finished with a fine volley. From then on although it was very early in the match we were in full control. A lovely run through the middle by Ali {mf} and pass to Chris again for him to put the ball away. We were playing some good stuff and the team seemed hungry for the ball. The next goal came from a long ball out of defence, a nice little head flick from Chris and Ryan ran onto it and stroked the ball away. We continued in this vein and a run down the right by Ross a good ball to Ryan who shot wide. A great run through the middle again by Ali {mf} who then passed to Jordan who shot wide. Ali {mf} was taking charge of the game and continued to make great runs through the middle and laid on another chance this time for Callum but his shot was well saved for a corner. The ball was well delivered from Ben and Ross was there to put the ball away.
The game was ours and we went on, attack after attack a bouncing ball in the area and Chris was there to score his hat trick. Callum made a good run and was brought down. Ben stepped up only to see his shot go over. Jordan then had a tremendous piece of skill on the left passed to Ben but the keeper saved. Shots were raining in from all over the park and the keeper was having his work cut out. Callum had a shot next and again the keeper saved. Then Cyrus and a good run and pass to Ali {mf} who shot wide. His next effort was more on target. The ball came out the area and he blasted it past the keeper. Ali {mf} again made one of numerous runs through the middle only to be brought down. Ben stepped up but his shot was off target, but moments later he, like Ali, scored a great goal with a shot from outside the area. Connall then joined the party with a shot again the keeper did well and saved. Ryan had a good run down the left which earned us a free kick. Jack stepped up this time but his shot went wide. Ali {mf} again ran through the middle passed to Ali {forward} but his shot was put wide for a corner. Ali {mf} again provided the ball for Jack to score. Then Ryan turned provider for Cyrus to take his opportunity to score. We could have had double figures when Ryan was brought down in the box. Up stepped David but his shot was saved by the keeper.
The game ended 9-0 and we were well worth that score. Hope all the boys enjoyed the game and keep that sort of performance for next weeks games.
