MATCH DAY REPORT
Todays game OPM 8 v CLARKSTON 0
I thought we played some outstanding football today in spells, although we were never really tested in the game, Matthew Holmes only had 1 save to make.
The back 4 today were solid, Eck(MOTM) and jack fitted in well and played very well. We had a new player today Ryan and ryan played well so we have asked him back and hopefully he will sign for us.
Johnny played left side midfield today and was outstanding, his link up with Jack on the left side was superb.
8 goals to no reply and we hit the post 4 times , so all in all it was a good day for the players.
well done to all the players and to the 4 players that were playing there last game for the club.
OPM 0 V STAMPERLAND 2
Todays match, we never played much football we were frightened of them and would not go in and tackle their players the whole game.
Our defenders need to start winning and attacking the ball, get off our heels and on our toes and go and meet the ball or their strickers.
Our midfield never got a grip of the game at all, never got in the game to many just hanging about and trying to hide up front, we need to involve ourselves in the game.
Up front the 2 strikers were starved of the quality ball we know we can produce.
We all need to stand up and be counted.
We know we are better than our performance today.
so lets cut out the childish behavior and start to listen and work hard again.
OPM 5 V STAMPERLAND 1
We started in the usual manner again today very slow , on the backfoot and gave them an easy goal, we need to stop gifting teams goals! In the 2nd spell we coming into the game alot more and started to find our passes, although we still dont want to tackle to win the ball back, conner came on to bolster the back 4 and did a superb job for us, his tackles and passing out from the back was nice to watch.
In the 3rd period we ran all over the top of them and started getting rewards by scoring more goals. A hat trick from chris and a goal each for ryan and connell was to much for very weak oposition.     well done today
OPM 2 V Antonine 6
todays game was more of the same way we start every game on the back foot and dont go near the oposition and tackle ,challange them. we gave them 3 of a start then with 8 mins to half time we started to believe in ourselves and started to pin them in to thier own penalty box. In the second half we were outstanding competed for every ball and won most of it, goals from connell and callum got us back into the game but while we were chasing the game they had a couplr of break aways and scored. the ref denied us in my opioin 2 stone wall penalty kicks. we never really got any luck in thebox today and there keeper made save after save from us.   We must take a big positive from our second half display and try and play for a whole match from now on.
OPM 2 v barrhead 2
we started a lot better than we have done recently.after a couple of close things we took the lead with a well worked goal down the left with chris chasing onto a ball jordan in suppot of him a great ball across the edge of the area and a fine finish by connell. that seemed to settle us and we played some good football for the rest of that period.what a start to the next period a great ball through the middle and chris running on to pass the ball by the keeper and into the empty net 2-0.the game was in our grasp but 2 is never enough.the team seemed to think that was that and allowed barhead to come into the game.the defence was making simple errors and giving the ball away far to cheaply.midfield fell away and we put ourselves under to much pressure with misdirected passes and not fighting for the ball.barhead got strength from this and started to play around us scoring before the break.we didn't come out for the last period with any sort of purpose and were soon level with more defensive errors and from then on it was all one way traffic towards our goal.in the end we were hanging on for the draw.we need to play the full game not bits and pieces of one.
OPM 5 V 3 westwood yellows
saturdays performance was a much better display from the team than in the past few weeks.we started well and but for the occasional lapse in concentration we played pretty well throughout.an early goal from chris was cancelled out right away by westwood.we continued to press and were rewarded by a second goal.we were begining to get our act together and playing the ball around.the second period was fairly even with both team scoring to bring the score to 3-2 in our favour.in the final period of play we were comfortable and added 2 more goals including a penalty.well seen jack wasn't the ref !!! over all it was a good performance by everyone and we managed to get everyone on at some stage.hopefully this will be the start of a better and more consistent period for the team.
OPM 1 v 2 Eastwood
before the game we were let down badly because 3 boys never turned up. they didn't contact either matt or jack before hand to tell us they were not turning up.this left us with 10 players including 2 keepers.we asked all boys at the last training session to leave a note on the web site telling us if they were available or not for the 2 saturdays.none of the boys who didn't turn up left notes or even called either of us.they let the whole team down.
as for the game we started of well enough and went ahead early with a goal from chris.we were playing fairly well with darren having to play in midfield.as with other weeks we still make defensive errors which led to the equaliser.
as the game went on we held our own dispite the one man advantage they had,and were the better team for large parts of the game.again an error by us let them in to score what ended up being the winner.we continued to press but as the game went on the midfield lost a bit of heart due to the amount of work they were having to do.we had a chance for the equaliser but unfortunately missed it.
overall the boys on the pitch did well, but i'm sure with everyone there the outcome would have been very different!!!
OPM 2-2 Mearns
this week we had a full squad to choose from which was good to see.
the game started well and we were playing some good football.the defence was tight and the forward line were giving their defence a busy day.we were making some chances but were not able to convert them.before the game we had said to connall we needed him to push up more and give us more goal threat.this he did and was rewarded with the first goal to give us a deserved lead.we were doing well but were caught with a sucker punch when they scored.
we continued to make some good chances and their keeper made a fine save from jordan off the post.
we continued to press and scored a scrambled goal.chris claimed the last touch as all good forwards should.
as the game went on our centre midfield pairing fell out of the game and that meant the defence were under increased pressure.they dealt well with their attack but a through ball split the defence and they scored another equaliser.
we need to all play well and help each other.for the most part we were the better team but must put our chances away and not let the other team back in so often.
O.P.M 8-0 Clarkston

We started the game very well and never gave the opposition a chance to settle. We were up for the game right from the start and put them under pressure right away. Our early pressure paid of and we scored a well worked goal. Jordan made space for himself, passed to Connall who cut in and passed an inch perfect ball for Chris to tap in. We continued to press and scored a second direct from a free kick taken by Connall. The third wasn't long in comming when we took a short corner. Alistair passed to Jordan whose cross was inch perfect for Chris to score his second and the teams third. We were in total control by now and everyone wanted in on the scoring. Again sustained pressure around their box, the ball was cleared out of the area only for Ryan to be there waiting and he struck the ball through a crowd of players into the back of the net.The team were more relaxed, and some good work down the right, Taylor popped up and made a great run with a pass accross the area for a tap in for Chris, his hat-trick.
The defence were never under any sustained pressure throughout the game but when called on performed their duties well.
Again there was good work down the right which ended with another pass accross the area and Ryan at the back post to pass in his second of the game. A poor kickout by the keeper was intercepted by David, who ran into the area and score his first goal for the team. The final goal was scored from the spot by Callum, after Ryan who wouldn't give up the chase and was fouled by the defender.
Lets see more of this kind of display for future games. starting next Saturday with the game against Stamperland stripes.
OPM 9 V 2 westwood reds

After 2 weeks with games called off due to the weather we were back again this week.
The team started off as if they had never been away. The opposition didn't now what hit them. We started the game very positive and scored early after David had a shot well saved by the keeper only for arch striker Chris to tap in. That set us off in the right way and the whole team then settled into an easy relaxed way of playing. The constant pressure soon paid off after a good run by Chris round the keeper and David had a simple tap in too make it 2-0. We continued to press and Jack was unlucky not to score his first goal for the team after a good run and shot that just went wide of the post. The midfield were controlling the game and at every opportunity were setting up chances for the forwards or having a go themselves. Chris ran through after a good pass from midfield to make it 3-0.The midfield were passing balls through to the strike force on a regular basis and before long we were 4 up after Chris collected the ball and make a simple pass on to David for him to slot home.
The team continued to dominate after the first break and Connall finished off a good move to increase our lead. The opposition made few chances but took one and reduced the deficit. We continued to press and scored again through David, his third. Chris scored his third of the day after his shot hit the post and he followed up to put it in the net. A good build up and sweet finish by Callum made it 8-0. The forwards continued to run the defence ragged and after a good run and cut back by Chris to Callum made it 9 for the day. Westwood broke through the defence for a second near the end. Overall the team worked well together and everyone contributed to a very good performance on the day.
OPM 8 v 1 Barrhead boys club

Another excellent display today, and what a start we got off too.
Unlike several other performances this season we started the game on the front foot. Ryan chased through to a ball and beat the defence to score 1-0. We continued to press and their defence weren't given any rest with everyone involved and playing some nice football. The midfield were in control very early and a ball put Chris through. After several touches he slotted the ball past the keeper to make it 2-0. Again everyone pressed and after some good work from both Ben and Chris the ball was cut back for David to put us 3-0 ahead. After that the team seemed to take their foot of the pedal and allowed Barrhead to put us under some pressure and pulled one back just before the end of the period.
In the second period the teams were evenly matched and the next goal was very important. Not many chances came about in the period, but just before the whistle some good work down the right, Ryan picked up and an inch perfect cross was met by Chris to make it 4-1.
That seemed to break the opposition and we were in total control throughout the final 20 minutes. Another cross by Ryan and Chris had an easy tap in 5-1. Again we continued to press with Ben making the keeper work and pull off an excellent save. another good pass through the middle was met by Chris who finished well. the defence had little to do but when called upon dealt with anything in front of them. A great through ball from back to front from Ross and Chris latched onto it and again finished well. Ben had great game in front of the defence, and his perfect pass was met by Callum who put the ball away with style.
Overall a great team performance with everyone playing their part in the win.
OPM 3 V 5 WESTWOOD YELLOWS

We had to change the formation of the team this Saturday, due to some of the boys not being able to make the game. This showed at the beginning of the game and we were 2 down before we got into our stride. Once the boys settled down we began to play much better and were pushing the ball around well. We pulled one back after a good through ball from Ally met by Chris who put it away. We were playing much the better football and drew level with a fine shot by Ben which beat the goalie, all ends up. We continued to press and David was sent through only to see his shot go wide. We took the lead after a great ball down the right from Ross, chased down by David and an excellent cross met by Chris to head us into a deserved lead.
After that things went wrong and a couple of dubious goals were allowed to stand giving them back the lead. We had several good chances from then, but were unable to hit the target when one on one with their goalie. They went further ahead as we pressed for an equaliser. Then to add insult to injury near the end we were down to 10 men after Cyrus was sent off for making a challenge outside the box, a harsh decision.
Overall the performance wasn't that bad, but as they say " it was just one of those days"!!!
